Birthday Girl

Hi everyone! Today I am back to share a layout that I have created as a Guest Designer for Berry71Bleu this month. The challenge was to use the May Once Upon a Time Sketch Challenge as well as incorporate some chipboard so of course I used some A2Z Scraplets on my page.

I decided to use some 7 Dots Studio Patterned Paper and elements for this layout. To start I have added some texture to a white 12x12 piece of cardstock. To do this, I have used an A2Z Scraplets Masklet with some Viva Decor Pearl Modelling Paste. When this was dry, I have doodled around a couple of the arrows. As you can see, I have used the stencil 2 different ways for a more interesting visual effect. 

 To decorate the birthday present A2Z Scraplet Chipboard piece, I have used 4 different shades of Perfect Pearls Powder that were all mixed with some Texture Paste. I made the paste really thick so it would create some fun texture on the chipboard. When this was dry, I have inked the top with some Black Archival Ink.

Before I started layering my elements down, I decided I wanted some colour on the background. To do this I have simply splattered some Pink Dylusions Ink as well as some Blue Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Spray. To create splatters easily, I spray some of the mist into the lid of the bottle and then hold above my page about 30cm and drop. If you want to create a bigger splash go a little further and vice versa.

The Birthday Girl Chipboard title was trimmed to fit my layout better and I have coated the letters with some Pearl Viva Decor Modelling Paste very roughly to create lots of texture. I then inked the top with some Black Archival Ink and moved onto the Cupcake Chipboard piece that I had removed. To decorate this I have simply sprayed some Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Spray over.

The last chipboard element, the double photo frames, were coated with some of the fabulous 7 Dots Studio co-ordinating papers and then the edges were sanded back roughly. I have also sanded back the edges of all my layers of paper to add some more white distressing but then I decided to ink around the edges of some of the stickers and embellishments with Archival Black Ink to add some more black distressing to the page.

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back today to share another quick layout with you all using lots of fabulous products available from Passion 4 Paper.

To create the background, I have mixed some Bombay India Ink with some Texture Paste and applied over a Crafters Workshop Template. 

I have also decorated some chipboard pieces with Dylusions Ink Sprays and some Perfect Pearls Mists for added sparkle. 

This layout came together really quickly which made me very happy. I just love when elements work and layering happens naturally. Have you tried your hand at some serious layering lately? It is so fun and effective.

The Color Room Palette#151

Hi everyone! Amy back today to share with you a recent layout that I completed using the current Color Room Palette. I am so excited to be designing for the Color Room now and you can check out their challenges here. So here was the palette this fortnight...

Here is the layout that I have created using lots of different products available from Passion 4 Paper.

To create the droopy ink background I have simply sprayed some Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Sprays on my paper while I was holding the paper up vertically and let it run down the page. When using 2 different colours it is easiest to dry in between if you want to avoid too much mixing. If you don't have a craft mat on your desk, just grab some paper towel to protect your surface from any run away drips.

Once the background paper was dry, I have cut some strips of paper which have been inked on the edges using some Archival Ink and my blending tool. 

Some chipboard pieces were decorated using some Perfect Pearls Medium & Powder very simply by adhering the medium over the entire piece and then brushing on the powder and brushing off any excess. I love how easy the Perfect Pearls Powders are to use and so versatile. They are so fun mixed with various mediums from water through to Texture Paste. If you haven't tried them before I definately recommend grabbing yourself a packet on your next online shopping adventure in the P4P store. You will not be dissapointed with the countless possibilities.

Treasure Box Altered Tin

Howdy everybody! Amy Prior here and I'm back today to share with you another gift that I created for my darling niece. For this project I wanted to alter a tin that I recently received some Natio Spa goodies in for my birthday. Every girl needs a treasure box so of course Aunty Amy made one for miss Skye's 3rd birthday. I hope she will treasure it forever and my girls even created some beaded jewellery to start off her treasure collection.

 Firstly I had to prime my surface as the tin would repell almost all my water based paint mediums that I wanted to work with. To do this, I have coated a layer of Multi Medium (Gel Medium would work too) and I have then cut up the A2Z Scraplets Chipboard Starburst to fit my tin lid and also adhered with the Multi Mediuim. I added some Multi Medium to the surface of the chipboard too and because I was in a rush, I have used my heat gun to dry really quickly after each wet step. I allowed the Multi Medium to boil and bubble so it would create some added texture to that fabulous starburst. I then added some fabulous lace from my stash around the base of the tin using the Multi Medium also.

 The next step was to finish priming and because the Multi Medium dries clear, I had to add some regular Gesso to cover the printing on the outside of the box. Again, after drying with my heat gun, I have painted the entire base and lid with some Antique White Paint from Kaisercraft.

 Once the paint was dry, I have rubbed a heap of Viva Decor Inka Gold over all that fabulous texture to help it pop! A golden treasure box for my niece how special! If you don't have Inka Gold, grab an ink pad and use your finger to add some colour softly to the raised texture.

 Now that my tin was painted and ready, I have added some Cheese Cloth and a tonne of Prima flowers, Birds Nest, Handmade Halo Charms and some wire swirls. I also had this fabulous bird in my stash that looked perfect on top and to help blend the project together, I have added some Inka Gold to the tips of all the flowers and onto the Bird roughly as well.

I am so stoked with how this turned out and I really wanted to keep it for myself LOL.

Mirror Mirror On The Wall...

Hi everybody! I hope you are all well and ready for some inspiration! Amy Prior here back with lots to share on this very quiet Passion 4 Paper blog. Unfortunately sickness has taken its toll on not just myself, but others in the P4P team but I promise to be back regularly sharing lots of inspiration with you once more.

 

Today I have a mirror to share that I have created for a gift for my darling little niece. It was her birthday party yesterday and I literally created this on Saturday night along with one other gift.

The MDF Mirror was pulled apart and then I went to town adding texture to the base using a variety of lace, chipboard and gel medium. To create the swirls, I have used a plastic fork on a thick layer of Gel Medium. Such an easy way to add texture and you could use hundreds of different things from around the home to get lots of different effects.

Because I was short on time, I have used my heat gun every step of the way. I am super lazy and impatient too LOL. After drying the Gel Medium, I have added 2 thin layers of Gesso as a primer. When this was dried, I then went to town with some Spray Paints. I just love the colours on this one, I have used Pink, Blue, Purple & Yellow and of course they have blended in areas to create greens, aquas and other shades.

To help avoiding a muddy effect, I have sprayed only one colour at a time randomly and then dried before adding a new colour. My trusty paper towel was also at hand to mop up any muddiness created. Muddiness is when the colours mix together and go brown and icky looking LOL. On vintage layouts it works perfectly but for this bright shabby creation, I didn't want to create any mud.

After drying all the colours and getting them to the shades of colour that I was looking for, I have mixed some Texture Paste and Gesso together and using my finger, I have added some white around the edge of the mirror as well as highlighted some of that fabulous texture I created earlier. I also mixed some Gesso and water in a spray bottle and randomly sprayed droplets all over the place to shabby it up a little more.

A bunch of Prima flowers were of course the final touch and I have added some more of my Gesso Texture Paste mixture to the tips of all the petals to help shabby them up a little as well.

Finally, another play with the Silhouette Cameo

I always thought that the silly season starts about now but I think it hit our family about 2 months ago.  Babies, engagements, shower teas....a wedding, and now finally December!  I have been so busy and my poor craft space has been so very neglected.

 

I have a couple of little projects here that I've been creating with my Silhouette.  This first one is my husbands birthday card.  His hobby is remote control planes and helicopters and the Silhouette makes it so easy to make a relevant card to match just about any thing.

I've been slowly teaching myself, with the help of you tube, how to make shaped cards from just about any shape you can buy.  This little helicopter is my first attempt.  

 

 

This next one is my first Chrissy gift wrapped.  The box, the bow on top and the reindeer tag have all been cut with the Silhouette.

 

I've made this little gift card holder that can also be used as a bookmark.  He's a bit cute ♥

 

 

and just a couple of monthly swaps that I take part in.

These cherries and for a green and red swap.

 

and lastly my ATC swap.  This one has been covered in Inkssentials Metal Foil sheet and embossed in my Big Shot.  The music note and dancer are cut with the Silhouette Cameo, it really cuts out small and intricate pieces well.

Happy Halloween!

Hi All - today I'm having a play with some of our gorgeous new Viva Decor products that you may have seen in last weeks newsletter - the wonderful pots of Inka Gold.  I've used these to add metallic shimmer to a textured background, another technique suitable for multiple purposes.

What you'll need:

• Inka Gold - I used Cobalt Blue, Violet, Silver and Gold
• Inkssentials Manilla Tag
• Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Midnight Rendezvous Raven
• Prima Spotlight Paper Leaves - Midnight
• Glossy Accents
• Spellbinders M-bossibillities folder: Valor
• Tim Holtz Word Bands
• Mulberry Paper Rose 5cm

Instructions

1. Spray tag with Midnight Rendezvous Raven and leave to dry.

It should look a little like this...
2. Insert tag into Spellbinders m-bossibilities folder and run through embossing machine.

It should have a wonderful deep pattern embossed into the card like this.

3. Start with any colour of Inka Gold and gently rub product over raised area of design - a little goes a long way.  I use my fingers to apply this, and add one colour a little at a time in small areas.

Once all colours have been applied to all of the raised surfaces, gently buff with a soft cloth or paper towel and your result should look something like this...

4.  I then added a few additional elements to create a relatively simple tag that is quick and fun to make.  Use this technique to create something in a completely different colour scheme for birthdays or presents.  I coloured the rose and ribbon with the same Starburst Spray to achieve coordinating embellishments.

Silhouette Cameo rocks!

Today I'm sharing with you a few projects that I have made using

my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine.

 

This machine is so awesome.  I love what it can do.

 

This first share is of some invites I made for one of my sisters

upcomming wedding.

 

It took no time with the Silhouette to cut out all of the 

invites.  The hardest part is picking which design to use.

 

Have a look on this card here at how clean the Silhouette

cuts.  The leaves in this design are quite intricate and yet

they look seemless and there is no way I could have done

this by hand.  I used Distress inks, Peeled Paint, Spiced

Marmelade and Broken China on Speciality Stamping Paper

and then adhered my cut out design to this.

 

This little owl pillow box took less that ten minutes to make

and that included making the buttons and felt eyes.

I used dies to cut out the felt and inked around the edge of

his beak.

This design does come with eyes and a beak but I wanted to

add a bit of dimention to my box.

 

I have used a piece of cardstock from my Carta Bella kit for

the design and it literally took a minute to do.  

I purchased the design and a few seconds later it was downloaded

into my library, 30 seconds to cut it out, and then all I had

to do was peel the design off the cutting mat, fold along the 

perforated edges and add a bit of glue.  Super easy and super

quick.

They'd make cute little party loot bags.

 

The doily shape and the vine like leaves I made in this layout have been

cut using the Silhouette as well.

 

I'm so impressed with my Silhouette and am using it all the time.

 

It's nice not to have to buy a cartridge that I only want for one or 

two designs.  I've seen online that there are some creating their

own cut files for the Silhouette but so far I have been buying my

in the Silhouette store.  I have a subscription with them now and it's 

awesome value.  Plus every week as well as a free design there

is a pile of designs that get put on sale at half price.  The machine

also comes with a library of designs and also a $10- gift card to

spend in the Silhouette store.

 

I've been learning this week how to cut out stamped images with it!

Glitter Background

This is fun and messy and makes an amazing SPARKLY background - give this a try!

What you will need:

Emboss It Dabber

Sticky Embossing Powder

Original (or coloured) Fairy Dust Glitter

Distress Ink Pads of your choice, I used Dusty Concord, Picked Raspberry, Black Soot and Shaded Lilac

 Instructions:

1.  Apply Distress Ink direct to cardstock until card is completely covered (work over baking paper or a non stick craft sheet).

2. Spritz left over ink on craft sheet with water and drag coloured card through water and ink to soften and blend colours a little.

3.  Using Sizzix Texture Fades - Valentine Background and Borders set, emboss row of hearts along base of card and use Black Soot distress ink to highlight.

4. Ink the surface of embossing folder which will make contact with the coloured side of your card using  Ranger's Emboss It dabber, carefully place card into folder, close and run through embossing machine.  When you remove the card there will be recessed areas with embossing fluid on them and the raised areas which have none. 

5.  Place card onto scrap paper and sprinkle Sticky embossing powder over the surface.  Tap off excess powder and heat card with heat tool.

6.  While still warm, cover embossed areas with glitter (you can see how I coloured my glitter here), leave the glitter in place until card has cooled slightly - this ensures excellent adhesion.  Tap off excess and brush the design with a small paint brush to remove any loose glitter.

7.  You now have a wonderful glitery background ready for your tag, card or page.

Carta Bella Beautiful Moments for dudes ☺

I've got another share here using the Carta Bella Beautiful Moments Kit.

Although the kit is very feminine, this time I decide to try and go for a more masculine look.

A couple of the papers in the kit can be used for either gender and I 

grunged it up a bit to make it more boy like.

Both the brown spotted base paper and the distressed spotty paper

are from the kit.

 

The number and letter stickers you get in your kits don't always have to be

used to make titles.  Use them to add interest and extra elements to your pages.

I love how the numbers on the bottom right corner look.  Some are folded under the

page, others the whole number is seen and one is turned a different way round.

 

I have swiped random streaks of Gesso across the middle of my

page and highled the embelishments and around the photo

with Gelatos.  By adding some highlights and a random colour

it make your photo stand out on the page.

The heart has been cut out of Tim Holtz tickets with a Tim Holtz

mover shaker die.  I have used one of these cute little pins on the

heart and wrapped it in twine.

The little cards are Kaisercraft and I have just spied some similar

ones in the store.  These look awesome.

The little butterflies have been cut with a My Favorite Things die.

I coloured some scrap paper with the Gelatos and then run 

it through the big shot. One way to get your embellishments

to match your colour scheme.  

I have also used some of the My Minds Eye brads left over from 

my last project.

Cluster stickers and tapes together to make your own embellishments.

Here I have even used a small paper scrap and just stapled it to my page.

I love the old burnt look in distress papers.  I read somewhere that the

secret to a good burnt look is to use at least three different shades

of browns. Dragging the lightest shade along and over the edge, the middle

shade so that the edge of the lighter shade is still seen on your

paper, and then the darkest just along the edge.

I have used distress inks on this page, starting with Frayed Burlap, then

Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain.

Did you know today is World Card Making day?

It feels like forever since I made some cards so perhaps that's what I

might do this afternoon.
